TCA Now Accepting Nominations for 2010 Best Fleet

Just a few months after announcing its 2009 Best Fleet to Drive For, the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) has begun accepting nominations for the 2010 award. According to the TCA website, the award “identifies the North American for-hire trucking companies that provide exceptional workplace environments for their drivers.”

Nominations can be submitted by company drivers or owner-operators for their “employing or affiliated carriers,” according to the TCA press release. Only carriers that operate ten or more trucks are eligible. Carriers are evaluated based on areas such as benefits, professional development, driver and community support, safety record and company culture.

The 2009 winners were Fremont Contract Carriers of Fremont, Nebraska, selected in the category for fleets with over 100 power units; and Wannemacher Enterprises of Lima, Ohio, selected in the category for fleets with under 100 power units.

Fremont Contract Carriers (FCC) operates 312 trucks out of Fremont, Nebraska. For this fleet, investments in technology to improve safety and efficiency, along with profit sharing, driver wellness, and flexible performance rewards, combined to deliver strong results in safety, retention and overall driver satisfaction.

Wannemacher Enterprises, who operates 56 trucks out of Lima, Ohio, impressed with innovative programs, such as their public safety video series. These ongoing videos addressed general issues of road safety and are aired as a public service on local television stations.
