How well does your GPS system work for you? Does it help you navigate the highways with ease and efficiency, or does your device lead you astray or is just plain unreliable?
Lucky for you, the GPS industry is always coming out with new products and advances in technology. One of the latest GPS systems available is being touted as designed specifically for the trucking industry - the Garmin nuvi 465T. This product offers a variety of features, including warning information that helps drivers avoid or prepare for abrupt curves, low clearances, windy conditions, steep grades, and other road hazards. It also claims to be the “first navigation device to provide locations in the National Truck and Trailer Services (NTTS) Breakdown Directory.” Other trucker-focused GPS systems are actually available, so options are not limited.
Most smartphones are now also capable of some GPS functionality, and the next wave in innovation appears to be in location-based services, a kind of a hyper-local way of receiving information via GPS. So it’s good to know that if your dashboard GPS fails, you can use your iPhone as a back up.

One of the main bonuses of having a GPS system is it helps you get where you need to go quickly (and hopefully safely), which in turn helps lower operating costs, something not to be overlooked in this economic climate.
